Delaware Tech has established agreements with four-year colleges and universities that connect Delaware Tech associate degree programs with bachelor's degree programs to create smooth transfer opportunities for you. These Connected Degree programs enable you to complete your associate degree and then transfer to a four-year degree program as a junior.
The Connected Degree 2+2 Curriculum
Delaware Tech's associate degree program in Human Services prepares the student for a rewarding career helping people who are experiencing personal and socialization problems. Through the program, students acquire knowledge of important theories in counseling psychology and human development in order to serve individuals and groups experiencing needs related to poverty, abuse, neglect, mental illness, disability, crime, unemployment, illness, discrimination, divorce, aging, and family dysfunction. They also learn how to link people with services such as education or training, financial assistance, child care, shelter, addictions treatment, mental health services and senior services. Graduates have the educational foundation to successfully gain entry level human services positions in both the private and public sectors, and to pursue a bachelor's degree. University of Delaware's Bachelor of Science degree program in Human Services prepares students for challenging careers with individuals and families through the lifespan. The Clinical Services Concentration prepares students for careers in human services, counseling, prevention and family support. It is designed for students who want "hands-on" practical experiences in the field culminating in a clinical internship. The Clinical Services concentration is designed for students wishing to work within public and private agencies serving clients, infants through the elderly, and their families. Combining course work and clinical experiences the program of study prepares graduates for careers in direct client services and developing quality programs for individuals and families. Students are also prepared to pursue graduate degrees in careers addressing the needs of individuals and their families, such as in community and school counseling, social work, and family therapy.
